Course Description

There are two ways to participate in this live event, as either part of the live studio audience in Gulf Breeze, Florida or via live stream around the world. Live stream participants will receive instructions in the confirmation e-mail on how to access the event from their computer and interact with the instructor. This stand-alone course will present a new, innovative and simple approach to examine movement and objectively assess and score movement utilizing the trademarked tool The Human Movement Wheel of Life TM. The Movement Wheel can be used to quickly and simply assess functional limitations, it guides movement prescription in a visual color-coded manner and is highly applicable in all rehab settings. Those registering for the course can visit www.fmitool.com to experience the wheel for themself, pre-screen their movement ability and get their own Functional Movement Index score. The FMI tool brings an objective and simple approach to optimizing movement and wellness and it embraces strong scientific-based practice and Eastern movement wisdom. This course will cover specific topics such as:

  • List the 6 key components that define the ability to move effortlessly
  • Compare motion and wellness rehab approach to APTA/AOTA expectations for movement & wellness practitioners

Volkert deWeijer

PT, DPT, MScPT, MTC, STC, CSCS, HLC

Dr. de Weijer is a faculty clinician at Nova Southeastern University’s Ziff Health Care Center. He received his BScPT from Hogeschool van Amsterdam in Holland and his MScPT and DPT from the University of St. Augustine of Health Sciences. He is certified in Manual Therapy (MTC), Sports Therapy (STC), as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Holistic Lifestyle Coach (HLC) from the CHEK Institute. Dr. de Weijer has been published in the Journal of Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy. As a true clinician, he understands the daily challenges faced in the clinic. Dr. de Weijer has over 15 years experience working with patients with Parkinsons disease. He has developed a holistic health point of view in patient care based on outcome success.
