Skin Anatomy and Woundcare

PRE-RECORDED EVENT (Self-Study)
This course provides an overview of skin anatomy and wound healing for OT/OTAs and PT/PTAs. The course covers a description of the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis layers of the skin. It also discusses the somatosensory receptors found in the skin and includes a brief discussion on the affect that aging has on skin integrity. Following the material on skin anatomy, the process of wound healing and tissue repair will be discussed. Common clinical and musculoskeletal conditions will be reviewed as well as the process of inflammation, proliferation and maturation. Clinical parameters and interventions to facilitate wound healing will also be addressed.
