BCP: CVA and Dementia
Some of our patients provide more challenges than others when treating dysphagia. Some of those challenges emerge in the treatment of patients who have suffered a Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA), as well as patients who are diagnosed with Dementia. This course will provide information re: different types of CVAs and the impact on the swallowing system. In addition, information will be provided re: how the swallow system is affected when the brains function progressively declines as in the case of dementia. Case studies will be discussed to facilitate the integration of the information.
