BCP: Effective Therapy II

What are the components of effective therapy to address the diagnosis of dysphagia? When an SLP is planning the treatment, the diagnosis, muscle dysfunction and impairments must be considered. Given this information, the treating clinician will then design a treatment plan that results in outcomes and gains for the patient. This course will discuss how to plan an effective treatment session considering the impairment and the nature of the swallow system. It is an understanding of impairments, muscle physiology and kinesiology, as well as concepts of exercise physiology that equip the SLP to be an effective personal trainer for the dysphagia patient. This course will review how to plan the treatment session per the impairment; as well as how to incorporate exercise physiology concepts into the session in order to yield outcomes. This will be an interactive course where examples of exercise and treatment session are discussed.
