Course Description

This is an Intermediate level course for PT, PTA’s, OT and COTA’s on the properties of water, benefits of treating in this environment and the resources to add aquatic therapy as a modality of treatment for your patient’s. Course will examine treatment options and demonstrate how to successfully schedule, document, and provide hands on treatment techniques in water for a variety of patient diagnosis. Course participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to provide effective treatments with great outcomes in water.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the physiologic effect within the body while participating in aquatic treatment.
  • Demonstrate aquatic treatment ideas.
  • Develop an effective scheduling for patients.
  • Document progression of treatment.
  • Explain the benefits of water treatment.

Rachel McDermott

PTA

Rachel McDermott is a Licensed PTA for 23 years who has worked in peds, acute care, outpatient, skilled and long term nursing rehabilitation. While the Director of Rehab she was able to develop and open a Senior Home Health Company, a Community Wellness Center, An Outpatient Clinic and an Aquatic Center that Skilled, Long Term Care, Outpatient and Wellness all utilized. The last 5 years Rachel has been assisting in developing Aquatic Programs and teaching CEU Aquatic courses and treatments for facilities and clinic throughout the United States. Currently Rachel is the head of Clinical Education for Hydroworx International.
