Course Description

The psychosocial and musculoskeletal aspects of Bell's facial palsy has a significant impact on bolus management and communication. A diagnosis familiar to the Speech Language Pathologist, there remains limited access to educated, therapeutic applications and intervention providing re-education of the neuromuscular system. Therapeutic strategies offer muscular inhibition in synkinesis and craniomandibular spasticity, muscular recruitment facilitating orofacial control and minimizing provocative, postural compensations of the jaw and breath patterns resulting in headache, jaw and cervical pain. This session seeks to educate the clinician in electrical stimulation as a therapeutic opportunity to facilitate a client's maximal, functional independence. See full course description here

"The speaker's use of very complex terminology and "in the context of" made it a little difficult to absorb his message. Would need to re-watch multiple times to truly apply this information."
