Course Description: Pediatric swallowing disorders are often complicated and multifaceted problems. It is paramount that the treating therapist has a complete understanding of the nature of the swallowing disorder, whether it is orally based or has pharyngeal dysfunction as well. Many therapy techniques can be applied in treating pediatric swallowing disorders, depending on the underlying cause. From research, we have learned that many techniques can be effective in treating pediatric swallowing problems, and many adult-based techniques may be applicable to the pediatric population.
