Course Description

Research on Sensory Integration and Sensory Processing provides evidence about the benefits of including movement for student health and wellness, as well as for learning challenges - including those on the autism spectrum. This webinar offers easy to follow step by step demonstrations created specifically for schools including sensory safe Transitions with the bus to begin the school day, Jump Start to connect the brain with the body, Chair Balls including rules for safe use in the classroom, Handwriting warm up exercises for test taking, Floor Time alternatives to sitting at desks, Recess to promotes attention, Centers to create more spaces and ways to move, Focusing calmers and organizers, Jobs for body and brain integration, and Being a Detective for discovering if sensory issues are driving behavior.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify how student behaviors may relate to sensory integration and sensory processing disorders
  • Walk in the shoes of students with sensory processing disorders
  • Use movement tools throughout their student's day, at school and at home based on sensory integration and sensory processing.

Diana Henry

MS, OTR/L, FAOTA

Diana A. Henry, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA has brought sensory tools to schools and communities nationally and internationally. As an occupational therapist, her mission has been to bring evidence based education to educators, administrators and parents for use in their daily lives with students. Diana worked with Eunice Kennedy Shriver to develop the Special Olympics in France and since 1975 has specialized in sensory integration and sensory processing producing ‘sensory tools’ books, DVDs and the Sensory Processing Measure assessment tool.
